What we do -
Our company provides a range of products and systems using line scan machine vision technology.
We are the US/Canada distributor for i2S HORIZON Line Scan board & software products.
We sell line scan cameras, and lighting & optics accessories for vision applications.
We provide custom system solutions using line scan technology.
What is Line Scan Vision -
Most machine vision applications use conventional 2D image sensors and
cameras to acquire pictures that are processed/analyzed to derive the
needed information for an inspection or measurement task.
Line scan vision uses linear array cameras (1D sensors) to acquire
images. Typically, an application involves capturing many lines
in succession at high speed while the object being inspected is moving
in front of the camera.
Advantages of line scan include:
- High Resoultion: cameras may have up to 4k, 8k or 12k pixels in one direction
- High Speed: scan rates exceeding 40,000 lines/sec are possible
- Continuous acquisition and
processing: Line scan acquisition and processing tools allow inspection
of continuous, 'infinite-length' products without image gaps or overlaps
- Simpler Lighting: Generally
it is easier to provide uniform lighting over a single line than over a
2D area, particularly on large fields-of-view.
- Design Flexibility: The
ability to develop an image by scanning one line at a time on a moving
part enables solutions that may be more difficult or impossible
with 2D imaging (see Applications).
Line Scan Applications -
Following are some typical applications of line scan vision technology:
- Continuous Web Inspection:
for 100% inspection of homogenous flat products such as paper, plastic
film, nonwovens, sheet metal, glass, wire, tubing, etc.
- Round & Cylindrical
object inspection: Line scan systems are used to capture developed
(unrolled) images of CD's, bottles, precision rollers, etc., for print
inspection and detection of surface defects.
- Document Scanning: Postal sorting systems, check processing, automated document processing systems, often use line scan imaging.
- Precision Measurement: The
high resolution inherent in many line scan sensors makes them an ideal
tool for many measurement applications.
- Production Lines With Limited
Access View: Larger sized products sometimes cannot be viewed in their
entirety on the production line due to other equipment in the line of
sight. Line scan systems viewing through a small opening can
often be used to produce complete images of a product for detailed
inspection.
